Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, expressed his heartfelt support to the family of the late Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the founding Chairman of DAAR Communications and African Independent Television (AIT). The Oba conveyed his solidarity in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Osaigbovo Iguobaro, in Benin.
During a meeting at the palace with Dokpesi's family members, led by his eldest son, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., Oba Ewuare II also extended his support to the late media icon's friends and well-wishers. The monarch assured them of his prayers and recalled the invaluable free live media coverage provided by AIT during his coronation in 2016.He emphasized that the memory of Chief Raymond Dokpesi would forever remain alive in the hearts of the people.
The Oba expressed his unwavering commitment to continue supporting the Dokpesi family both personally and officially. He acknowledged the late business mogul's resilience in the face of challenges, which only made him stronger.
We will keep on praying for you. May God Almighty and our ancestors grant our prayers. We are here for you. We will do our best to support you all the time.I want to assure you that we will do our best, personal and official, to keep on supporting the Dokpesi family and his friends.
In response, Raymond Dokpesi Jr. thanked the Oba for his affectionate gesture towards his family and appreciated the wise counsel he provided during and after their father's funeral. He, along with his uncle, Mr Cyril Dokpesi, and other family members, friends, and well-wishers, spoke about the profound impact of their loss. They humbly sought prayers from the Benin throne to help them cope with the shock and grief caused by their patriarch's passing.
