The Benin Beaded fly whisk known as “Ugbudian Ivie” in Edo language, it is an Object which form part of the Royal regalia of the Oba.
The Fly whisk which is a property of the Oba Of Benin, was part of the looted materials the British took from the Oba Palace, with a beaded Crown and a beaded shirt regalia belonging to the king.
It is formed of coral beads, it’s handle made of four large beads of red jasper.
its weight approximately five and a half pounds makes it altogether impractical to use.
